Fourrures (= Select Furs). Front door site in Paris Yellow Pages. New
entry March 23 2000 (September 6 1999).
Cologne. Solid site with some nice material, but I would have like a beter
look on it (bigger pictures) - more furrier should include a good picture of
their shop (window). Also an online shop for
small items and accessories. New entry August 23 (July 18) 2001. (STA)

Finland. Various pictures. Updated before May 5 1999, new address May 12 1999.
- Aklavik -
Tuktoyaktuk Furs. A Canadian furrier who sell furs from the
North Western Territories. Some less than exciting pictures from their
products, but a nice frosty mood in the design. New entry October 13 1999

- Alaska Fur Gallery. Fur manufacturer, sells to the public. Nice
pictures but some look familiar. New February 14 1999. Updated May 3 1999.

modern design - actually screen-orientated, I like that. Some use
of technological gadgets (Flash), but for me it works. New May 4 1998,

- Albrecht Furs. One page front door site with one rather
cute picture. New March 18 2000 (December 7 1999). (Lynx SSFF)
- Alex, Upper Montclair, NJ USA.
All Flash site, with music - bad music. The pictures of the
Flash intro look much better than the pictures of the stock, but that's
probably because coats are supposed to be worn by women, not by coathangers.
At least you get a fairly complete - if less than exiting - idea of the
collection. New entry November 15 1999, updated

Kastoria, Greece. I'm not sure what this company does,
but it looks great. The nicest pictures are outside the gallery, so browse
around over the site. New entry May 29 (April 25) 2001 (Elli)
- Alixandre Furs. A
number of smallish pictures of their coats

'Under reorganisation' (January 23 2002).
- A.M. Linea. Made in Italy.
Where are the times that you could rely on the Italians to
come up with something stunning in the online fur scene? This is another site
losing its Wow!-factor by the "Thou Shalt Have Small Pictures" rule of the
so-called web experts. Ever heard of thumbnails, anyone? Many small pictures
of probably outstanding furs. What a waste. Update posted

- Anastasia Furs, USA, Winston-Salem. Front door

One of the very first generation of online furriers. Somebody must like us up there and must
have heard our prayers: as a part of a thorough site make-over and awaiting
the promised new collection, Andriana did a rescan of some of their old
material (including that lovely group portrait, yes that
one, now without the retouching). Also male furs. There are
some dead links and some pictures you already know from previous editions, but
on the whole this is a must-see collection. Update posted

- Ankara Kürkevi & Deri, Turkey, Ankara. As the fur goes, a
gallery of pictures, some of which look suspiciously familiar.
If they're their own scans, I'd love to help them, for the
pictures and the furs deserve better. If you're not above some fake
fur, click on 'Pluche'. New March

Flash is the latest thing everywhere, but it has more sites ruined than
improved. Annabella is, unfortunately, no exception. Some things look good
(while they could have been achieved by other, less techy means), but the
sliders are awkward and the pictures get small and unprofessionally blurry.
This does the furs no credit. Fortunately, there are html versions of this
site, and the abundant Simonetta
Ravizza runway pictures, bless her soul, all in quick, crisp HTML, and above all,
in focus. Don't miss the second page, the
link is in small letters. Update posted January 23

Italy, San Remo. The best way to show what you sell, is
to shop your shop, Annamode must have thought, and that's what they do: in a
360 degree vision plug-in as well as with a great number of pictures. The
(Shop) 'Windows' page - with a close up look of the coats
probably - doesn't function though. New entry
January 26 2002 (December 19 2001).
- Anpel. Small pictures,
cut-up and put inside a table, so use Ctrl-PrintScrn and paste them into a

- Arletty Furs,
aka Arletty Fur Designs, USA, New York. A dozen of pictures of the collection on coat
hooks, but at least this is not a `Design Your Own Website in 5 Easy

designs. Now, if she could found some proper models ... New entry

single page site with a number of pictures - not just astrakhan but also some
short-haired furs. New entry January 21 2002 (December 11 2001).
Atlantic Fur, Canada, Ontario. Apart
from the usual thinks like sale, storage and restyling, they also take care of
fur machines. Here's at last a modern looking site where the content isn't
smothered by technical wizardry. Attractive gallery, mostly knitted furs. New

the design and the drawings. Sells furs in consignment; click `View' to see
their interesting classified section - pictures, prices and a clear
description, who could ask for anything more? Also you can donate your fur
to have the money to go to the charity of your choice (with the usual tax
deduction for Americans). Nice idea. Description updated September 5 1998. 2&R

furs on small pictures, he said sadly. If you want to buy a dress in swakara

Nice pictures here; note: some of the reverse links
point in fact to other 'front' pictures, which is not really a bad thing.
Design is not very pretty, but at least it's efficient.
Separate pages for long-haired and men's furs. New 5 September 1998,

don't mention an update date and don't time stamp their pages).
Furs. Some interesting categories here:
furs & denim, pre-owned furs. No-nonsense design with a clear,
attractive view of some of the stock. The link to the next pages is rather
small, so don't miss it. New entry January 26 (10) 2000. (rrooke), update

Mauro. (Moving his
site here from Lambrate). A number of wonderful pictures
spread over the site but not all very easy or obvious to find (e.g. check
out 'News'), and quite a lot of mink pictures (as brown minks go; click on the
picture to get to their `click next' type gallery). New April 28 1998.
Update May 5 1999 (October 12 1998).
- Chaarm leathers,
USA, New York. Forget about the name ('leathers'), there
are some lovely furs here. A minor niggle: at several thumbnails the link to
the picture is missing - someone has been struggling with them terribly
(judging by a URL like
http://www.chaarmleather.com/images/images/1.jpg_mainviewer.jpg). New entry

Farms Fur Shop. A
site that looks in some respects as if it's still in its early days, but
unfortunately it isn't (see creation date). Originally nice pictures but
badly handled: they just not look bad this way, they might be taking more
bandwidth than necessary as well. I hope they'll get it right some time. New

Italy, Genua. Not the be confused with Cioni (see
above); although it sells pelle e pelliccia it seems to be mainly
pelle, so 'leather'. New entry February 10 2002 (September 11 2001).
- Cioni's (2).
Another Cioni's site, alas currently showing the summer (= leather)
collection, and on coat hooks. I'm not sure what Cioni's wants with this site
- obviously it's updated but it's not on their own domain, and it looks like
a low budget version of (1); the decently sized window picture is a nice idea
though - more furriers should do that, especially the ones who are
currently (mis)taking their customers for stamp collectors. If you're
proud of your business, show it! New entry February 29 (25) 2000.
- Classic Furs Inc.,
USA Brooklyn. It took
some time to get it right, but now the Classic Furs site is true to its
name. It's just one page and they let the pictures do the talking, but the
pictures talk well. Truly `classic' fur shots. New entry September 9 1999 (September 18

- Collections Corner.
Online Canadian second hand fur trade, good
clear pictures (lots of them) of coats, and now they have
people in them, if that's what

jacket, obviously, but at 1700 DM and me not being a gay person I'm still
thinking about it ... New entry May 29 (February 28)
- Corniche Furs,
New York, USA. Designed
by `Far Out Designs' and well ... why not, neo-70s has been all the rage for
some time now. Not really my cup of tea, but at least it's easy to find your
way around. According to the site Bob Mackie has been involved in the design
of their collection. The site is much improved since the first edition and
some nice pictures too. New entry September 15 1999, update posted
February 10 2002 (January 1 2001).

- Cuirs et Fourrures du Front de Seine.
A French online furrier. Basically,
it looks okay, and it's a great improvement on the first edition, and the furs
are okay too, but would anyone order for a fur going by a picture that's
smaller than my little finger? Also, there's no need for a popup picture if
it's hardly larger and little more informative than the original thumbnail.
Nice try though, I hope they get it right in the end. New December 17 1999 (FK),

Furs, Southern Korea. Slow
site, mixed Korean-English (sort of). This site could have been so much
better! Clicking on the image map (!) leads to pages with a Windows
streaming media movie or `3D'-picture, and a (beautiful) picture. I liked the movies I saw
(the brown and yellow mink), although it just comes out as a series of
stills accompanied by music, if at all, when the server is in a bad mood.
Hint for online
furriers: don't use the protected streaming media format, but use a
downloadable format with a company logo/URL in the corner, that people can
spread around - after all, what do you want, getting attention for your
company or selling movie and music copyrights? New October 12 (August 19)

Italy, Merate (LC). A small site by a not-so-large fur shop, with a few

New entry October 12 (2) 2000. (Elli / SSFF)
- Dellera Furs, Italy. A well

Furs. It just goes to show that a nice 'personal',
even family-like, feel on a site can come with a site design that has few
loose ends; and of course it helps if all your female staff can double as
model for the furs... New entry February 10 2002 (July 11 2001). (smept)
- Dittrich Furs, Detroit USA. Still
partly under construction, but the info is useful and the backgrounds are
nice. (Don't try this at home though if you don't know what you're doing.
There are enough slow sites as it is.) New entry June 3 1999.
Pellicceria, Italy. Domus has
invested in a Flash demonstration, and as ever with Flash, Murphy's law
applies. Small pictures, neurotic music samples and you spend much of your
time staring at a creeping progress bar. Too slow, too little. New November 17 (August 30)

- DS Pelz Design. A German site (click on 'unsere

coats shown on what a mannequin loving friend of mine calls 'headless things
in shopping windows'. New entry March 27 1999.
- Dublenki. A Russian Site, with a large number of
pictures of varying interest. (Look for something that looks like 'KATALOG').
At times it can be very slow. New December 17 1999. (Elli.)

A small, simple site, but not bad at all for a start. New entry March 21 (7)

- Eberle. Germany, Kohlberg. Before you
start driving, notice that there are two Kohlbergs in Germany. Blankets:
enticing pictures, prices next to them - what else do you need to buy? Less `Leider
zu Zeit kein Bild', I guess. Buy the Australian fox and you might be
contribution your fair share to the environment - foxes don't belong in
Australia. New entry June 27 (January 4) 2000. (Chris SSFF)
An online furrier with a large online collection, also
used. Really a site that makes you reach for your wallet. New entry February

- Eidnes Furs. Still under construction. New entry
November 11 (February 19) 1999.
- Eksa, Lithuania. A bi-lingual site, that means Russian and
Lithuanian. Oh well, that's where their shops are. Few, smallish pictures of
the collection, but some are surprisingly suggestive. New entry September 11

- Elisa Sori, Italy, Monsano. It's Italian, it's bi-lingual, but not
much excitement here. Small, mostly black and white pictures so apart from the
blurb you get hardly an idea of the collection. New entry August 23 2001 (May
Enssle (address "http://www.gaisburg.de/",
Germany Stuttgart. Attractive pictures, but I suspect come from other sites,

Voglio, Italy. No breathtaking design here, but
there is very good view on their
large collection, with clear and attractive pictures
- with thick collars, trims and hoods by the bucketload.
Don't skip the fabric/tessuti and rabbit/lapin sections.
New May 7 1998, update posted August 21 (March 28)

- Francesco Errichiello, Nola (NA), Italy. Spot the furs
... I'm not sure if this is a furrier, but no prices for how many furs there are on the
overview picture on top of the page. New entry September 9 1999. (Lynx)

Italy, Roma. Three ugly

- Etherion Furs,
Front door site, one picture. New entry November 15 (10) 1999 (Lynx NTC).
- Evans Furs. Previously known
as E-furs, but contrary to what the 'E-' suggests the possibility to order
online are rather limited. Some very nice pictures of their wares - I
seriously thought about the white lamb coat. Sorry, I don't have a phone
bank card ... New entry August 24 (May 12) 1999.
- Facimp. Furrier in
Florence, Italy. Site is almost pictures-only, most furs are coats with fur
collars, cuffs, etcetera. Updated March 4 1999.
- Fago, Italy, Pienza. Tuscan Furrier which sells through a
number of other outlets too. Small site, but adequate design and a few nice
pictures of the collection. New entry August 20 2001 (September 28 2000).
- Fahrnbach's International House of
'Fur Galore': in stock possibly, but not on their page. No pictures, GET
YOUR ELBOW OFF THE SHIFT KEY, no real life address and they can't get their
own name right. Not to mention the page counter. New entry October 13 1999
(June 8 1997).

Under construction, but watch the lovely the picture -
it's much larger than it looks on the page. New entry January 22 2002 (March

Frontdoor page, one seemingly little picture. (It's large and stunning, in
fact!). New entry January 22 2002 (November 23 2001).(smept SSFF)

Transformations, storage and repair, and delightfully wacky fur ads. Have a
look. New entry September 15 (August 23) 1999.
- Florence Mode,
Italy, Florence. A large and
impressive view on the collection, but this site leaves me with mixed
feeling: only determined browers will be patient enough to wait until the
Flash animation has finished uploading - so the 'flash' could be seriously
counterproductive, and I haven't even touched on compatibility issues here.
When the animation has finished loading, everything goes like a snap though.
New August 20 (April 29) 2000. (Smept), update posted
January 23 2002 (July 24 2001) 'Not as good as the previous update', STA says.
- Florentia, Porto S. Elpidio
(AP), Italy. Nice coats, nice design. And much larger than you might think at
first: also click on the links on the right, they'll lead
to other coats than those you see, and then there's all the fur and even some
feather on the Shearling, Pelle and Tessuto pages. Don't miss them.
Also, I liked the camera roaming through the shop on the
`Chi Siamo' page. New entry October 26 (September
18) 1998 (Lynx), updated September 11 (July
31) 2001. (MyFurLady)
- Foggensteiner, Vienna (6. Bezirk).
Even the Mariahilfer Strasse has its furrier, or even two ... a front door
site, one slow picture. New entry November 15 (August 30) 1999 (Lynx NTC).
- Four Seasons Fur Co., Toronto. A page in an online shop
directory, one picture. New entry February 18 (January 28) 2000.
- Fourlions, New York, USA.
Furs and shearlings, and a good view of their collection. New entry November
15 1999 (Elli), update November 15 (October 5) 2000. Look for 'Classic' and
- Fur & Luxury Center
(a.k.a. 'Fur Center'). The site that seems to be a
central storage for many (not so) different online fur business. They seem
more concerned with keeping you from a good look at a decently large picture
than with actually selling furs, and they can't convince me that online buying
of new furs is a good idea. The pictures and the furs are wonderful,
but as I said, you can't really get a good look at them, unless you want to do
a lot of cutting, pasting and stitching. New entry, update posted January 22
2002 (October 18 2001 and January 6 2002). (Elli; was notified on SSFF but has
been updated since).
- Fur Outlet. Also sells through
E-bay. Models wanted ... ! Escrow service, coats, jackets ... The design
look rather high tech, but there has gone much care and attention into it.
The catalogue counts 200 items, also men's furs. New August 24 1999, update
posted April 6 2001. The size of Fur Outlet is getting impressive; also
there are some modelled pictures now. 2&R
- The Furplace
(aka ManosFurPlace), USA, Baltimore. Nice techie design - this looks really
looks like an efur business, not like a fur shop that has a website on the
side. Time will tell. The pictures are nice but suffer from a degree of
over-compression. The search engine just seems to give an 'All sold out',
whatever you do, and there are some internal dead links, which doesn't look very confidence inspiring. Teething
problems? Still, have a look here, for this might be the look of things to
come as regards to e-fur business. New November 15 2000. (SMEPT)
- Fourrures du Vieux Port, Quebec.
An all-animated site. I don't particularly fancy animations on fur sites,
but this is done well, with no discernible loose ends. New entry April 7
2001 (November 7 2000). (HackJack)
- The Fur Trader, USA. Buy and sell used furs.
Updated September 9 (April 21) 1999 (shots of stock), update posted November

- Furland Russian Fur. Long pages with unintelligible Cyrillic
text but this is where you want to be: http://www.russianfur.com/rus/models/fsgallery.html.
Cute. And when you're there, don't forget to click on the little red numbers
to the left. No pictures on the English part of the site. New entry March 21
(February 1) 2000. (Elli SSFF)
- Furs by Graf, San Diego, USA. A
few pictures of the Furs by Graf people and their collection. New entry October 13
1999, update posted October 27 (August 17) 2000.
- FURSHOP.IT, Italy, Mestre. Site which mainly consists of the
catalogues of the firm. If not the `most beautiful furs in the world', but
really worth a look. Don't forget to click on the pictures of the main
gallery, there is a larger version of them. New entry August 23 2001 (December
4 2000). (Elli)
- Furshopping. This
should get you a good idea what online fur buying should look like: great
collection, adequate information, clear, attractive & sufficiently large
pictures; some nice ideas, like the 'related' items. And the technology
works. I'm impressed. New entry December 2 2000 (Chris)
- FursPlus. USA, New York. Still under construction,
but there is very tempting picture of a large lynx blanket. New entry March
21 (5) 2000. (Lynx SSFF)
- Egon von Fürstenberg has an additional address now. A
fashion shop with a 'pellicceria' section. A few pictures there. New entry
June 15 1998.
- Furwear. Several galleries with pictures of
most of the
available items, with prices and the possibility to order online.
Not all pictures are clickable. New entry
February 18 2000 (November 17 1999) (Marcel Loves Fur/NTC),
update posted August 23 (13). (Chris)
- Garbin Pellicceria.
Italia, Padova. Small site with a runway page (small pictures) and a
coathanger view of the collection. New entry March 21 (February 29) 2000.
- Gardenia, Italy, Bovolenta/Piove di Sacco. A small
but pleasant gallery of the Gardenia coats, with prices and - very thoughtful
- a size converter - added. New entry March 20 2000 (October 28 1999). (Lynx
Furs, USA, Bethesda (Maryland). A single page on a
business directory site. If you, for some reason, can only post a few
pictures on your page, do it like this: clear, bright and not too small
pictures. No plans to go to Maryland, but I'll drop in if I do. New entry
November 30 (September 29) 2000. (Elli)
- Georgia's Furs and Leathers. A site that does the trick, with a
large, practical catalogue with beautiful coats and pictures. New entry
March 31 1999, updated September 9 (August 21) 1999, although I don't know
what could be new.
- Gerko fourrures. France, Paris. This site resides
(that's the word) in a directory listing, but it should have its own
namespace, preferably in golden letters and on Ferrara marble. It must be
that kind of place. If Gerko is up-market, the message has come across.
Anyhow, Mme Gerko looks a million in her furs, and so do her furs on her.
Fair enough ... New entry March 11 (Lynx SSFF), update posted
November 30 (May 22) 2000. Gerko updated shortly after it was included on
this site, but I think it was more a revamp of the site than a change of
- R. Germann. Germany, Köthen. Small site, some
pictures. Design looks good. New entry March 21 2000 (October 8 1999). (Elli
/ Lynx SSFF)
- Giancarlo. Italy, Marsala. A front door page in an
online directory. One nice picture. New March 20 2000 (December 15 1999).
- Gioannini. Italy, San Giusto Canavese (TO). Two small
pictures of the fur department of the shop. For a site with its own domain
name, you'd expect some more content. New entry March 21 (January 31) 2000.
Germany, Augsburg. Keep everything simple, and everything works - and that's
what the Glock site does. Not many pics, but very attractive. New entry August
26 2001 (October 11 2000). (Jaco)
- Gorgeous Furs(,
USA?). Lots of coat-only pictures of new and used, some
of rare furs, and furs for men, but no prices mentioned. Very irritating
banner ads of their host. New entry February 1 2002.
- Goudet Fourrures,
Loire, France. A one page site, two pictures; a bit more flesh on the bones
would be welcome. New entry September 16 (April 22) 1999.
- Greekfurs. In spite of the logo says, the
site is only in Russian so far, but don't let that bother you. No doubt
you've read about furriers with hundreds of coats in stock. Well, this is
one, and they can actually prove it because this is hundreds of fur coats to
gape at, not on coat hooks, but on models. Marvelous effort. New entry March
23 (February 12) 2000. (Lynx SSFF)

site of an Alaskan furrier. Some nice pictures. New entry November 15

- David Green (2), Anchorage, USA. I have a great
fondness for the brave fur wearing citizens of Alaska, and I'd like to
encourage any furrier to venture into web design, but this site just would
have looked better if less attention would have gone into Java and more into
the looks of it. The 'No right-clicking allowed' - barrier is totally
pointless, and ineffective too. Nor do I do know if webtv and palmtop people are
very happy about the Java; there is no provision for these and legacy
New entry February 29 2000 (July 1 1999).
- Fourrures Grenier, Quebec. Small
site, with the history of the firm, and its services. New entry November 15
1999 (Lynx NTC).
Italy, Prato. If you get past the opening animation -
much too slow - there's a small sfilata, and a page Trend, both
with various kinds of furs. New entry January 26 2002 (October 20 2001).
- Gunia Furs. One of the first generation of fur sites.
No coats pictures here, but one of the few that sells fur bedspreads,
mittens and other 'other' items, and useful information about its Gunia's
own stock. A lot of sites could do worse than have a look at this one.
Updated December 1 1998.
- Haeker Furs, USA, Alma (Nebraska). Two pictures. New
entry April 19 1998, update posted October 27 (September 19) 2000.

- Harmanli Furs,
Turkey, Istanbul. A very smooth page, with collection of nice
pictures. Look under `Harmanli Furs and Leathers', not 'Duo'. New entry

- Harris Furs. "Yawn.
The software company must have made a fortune..." -

Small, simple site with a few pictures

- Couture Helène. A Belgian clothing shop, sells both fake and
real fur. New November 8 1998.
Athens, Greece. A front door site with a few pictures. New entry November 9
(Januari 6) 1999.
- Henig Furs, Alabama,
USA. Way, way back, in the gray mists at the dawn of Internet, I seem to
remember a Henig Furs site. Anyway they're here (again). If the site was so
big as the company building, it could be real fun, but although it isn't, so
far it's not bad at all. The furs are stylish on the conservative side, so
no wild outbursts of lynx or dyed fox. (Well, that's Alabama for you,
I guess.) New entry May 29 2001 (December 7 2000). (SMEPT)
- Hercules Fourrures. A bilingual (E/F)
site by a Canadian furrier (Montréal). A few nice pictures here. New July
- Herczeg, Berlin. A German
(front door) site, still under construction and not much to see yet. New
entry March 27 1999.
- Herman-Sellers-Gough-Furs, Toronto, Canada. A

USA Pittsburgh. I couldn't put it better than my correspondent Chris: "Same,
same, but different. If i could just remember where i have seen that layout
before...." New entry August 23 2001. (Chris)
- Hicks Furs, Hamilton, Ontario. Lovely furs, recycling
of old furs, storage and no less than ten reasons why should wear furs,
various fur items and also a number of nice pictures. A millennium update
posted January 4 (1) 2000, with some lovely pictures and furs on various
pages of the site. Must have been the first fur site to update in the new
- Hinsdale Furriers, USA,
Hinsdale. Pleasant looks, friendly, useful textual content, lovely modern
design and now with pictures. New entry March 18 2000 (1999) (Lynx), update
posted June 21 (2) 2000 (Susie).
- Hoffmann Furs. Furs for women and men. A nice
homegrown site, not much design, but it does the trick and the furs look
nice. Updated and new address April 17 1999.
- Hong Kong Fur Factory. A nice catalogue of modern style
furs, really worth a look; look under 'Products' as well. Some of it looks
like it's catering for a far eastern taste, but I believe any black or white
western woman might make a striking appearance in it as well. New March 22
(January 11) 2000. (Lynx SSFF)
- Hudson Services, USA, Providence. Don't ask me why a cleaning service
should sell bridal gowns and have a fur salon, but the pictures and coats are
nice, so much so you could forgive them for using the pointless 'no
rightclicking' scripts. New entry August 23 2001 (October 31 2000). (Chris)
- Pelzhaus Huemmler,
Loebau. A German
site. Some pictures which may come from elsewhere, so probably not related
to their stock. The business itself goes back along time ... New entry March
Hunt Furs, USA
Texas. Under construction and obtrusive, browser-crash
inducing JAVA, so there has to be done some work for it will be really
'fabulous' here. One picture on front page. New entry October 12 (September

section which is only to see in very small pictures. New entry March 25 1999,
update posted January 22 2002 (July 28 2001). (HackJack)
Like Hack_Jack I'm not sure if this is an update, but they have been working
on their site. Much of my previous critique still holds though.
- In the Mink. A New York furrier, with a
reltively large pictures on one page. Cute stuff, mainly mink (and fox-trimmed) pictures. New entry February 18 (January 8)
(Lynx SSFF), update November 30 (September 13) 2000
- Interco Online. A Greek fur site. Don't go here before
you have saved all your other work on your machine, because this site
is as safe as the Syntagma Square rush hour. That is, not. Lots of script
error messages, and the required plug-in (I didn't use any, I suppose that's
were the error messages come from, but hey, shouldn't I have been told
there was a plug-in?) does manage to stop a full blown, well-cared for
Macintosh dead in its tracks. Which is something of a achievement, I have to
admit. The pictures of the showrooms are impressive, but the pictures with
modeled coats come from Fur Online (no copyright breach here).
Switzerland, Zürich. Firm dealing in real estate, art and furs. Two
pictures. New March 18 2000.
- Peletería Jorge Issaria, Toledo, Spain. Front door
page with one nice picture. New entry May 29 2001 (November 21 1999).
USA, Bucks County. Online buying of fur, shearling and sheepskin. New entry
August 23 (17) 2001 (Chris)
- Jean's. A fashion shop that also sells furs. Under
construction and the link to `Furs' doesn't function yet, so all you will
find regarding fur is a very small picture.
- Jean Philippe Fourrures. Front door
site in Paris yellow pages. New entry March 23 2000 September 6 1999).
- Jean-Claude Jitrois. French leather shop which does a little bit
of fur on the side, although you have to take your time. `Collections' are
worth to browse through, although you have to take your time - and don't
skip the `Press book'. For the aficionados: Lynx does some of her shopping
here. Updated May 5 1999.
- Fourrure Jerome, Schiltigheim (Bas-Rhin),
France. A small site, clicking on Modeles 1 and 2 will lead you to some Gifs
of the collection. New entry September 10 (August 20) 1999.
- Jones Fur, USA, Greensboro. Different name, but yes, it's that same
online sales engine & stock again ... New entry August 23 2001. (Chris)
- Pelze Jouja. Still under
construction. New entry March 27 1999.
- Juliana. Pictures of the
mid-season sale. Collars and trims. New entry November 11 1999 (December 12

A rather flashy site (I mean that litterally), with a handful of immaculate
pictures, but mostly fur. New entry March 25 1999, update posted September
11 (May 24) 1999.
- Kahnert Furs, Toronto. A three page site with
reasonable pictures. Nothing wrong here, immaculate page design, but for an
apparently up market collection like theirs you'd expect something a little
bit more overwhelming than two small scans from Vogue. New entry
February 29 2000 (December 6 1999) (Lynx), update posted
December 7 (November 6) 2000.
- Kalinka Company,
Kirov, proudly presents ...
You can do worse than take pictures of your entire collection modeled by
pretty girls. The styles are a little bit out of the
mainstream perhaps, but that makes it all the more refreshing. New entry March
20 (January 9) 2000 (Elli SSFF), update posted February 1
(January 18) 2002, to the
daya year later than the last. (Hack_Jack)
- Karin & Petros Päls. A Swedish site,
crisp design but text almost Swedish-only, and small and few pictures.
Specialises in mink apparently, but there is some sable and chinchilla too.
New entry November 14 1998.
- Kauper Pelze +
Leder. Sells fur
and leather in Scheßlitz, Germany. Less than exciting page with some small
pictures of some of their ware and of their shop. New entry January 31 2000
(November 8 1999). (Michael)
- Morris Kaye Furs. Small site, with small pictures of an
interesting looking collection. New entry June 13 1998. Address changed and
updated May 5 1999.
- Keegan Furs. A small site with a few wonderful pictures,
but known already. New entry September 15 1999 (December 11 1997).
- Pelzhaus Kircher. A furrier from Berlin, Germany. A handful of nice pictures in a
cleverly designed website. New January 31 2000 (December 15 1999). (Michael)

November 15 1999 (Lynx NTC).
- A. Koppel & Co, Denmark. A front
door site in an online shopping mall. (Lynx / NTC). New entry November 9
- Kotsovos Furs and Apparel. One page about furs, but the
pictures are much smaller+ than the furs deserve.
- Kriegsman's Welcome Page. Fur care and cleaning.
Their catalogue is here: http://www.shopclue.com/catalog/kriegsman.
Update posted December 3 (October 16) 2000.
Furs, USA, Westbury. Well-designed pages. To get an idea of
the rather restrained collection (apart from the chinchilla nothing very loud
of conspicuous) you should browse various pages of the site. Click on
'Shopping' though, and you'll end up in that standard-design engine and stock
that a number of online fur store seem to share. New entry August 21 2001
(October 9, 2000).
- Lady Western Fur Recycling. A modest website with a few
unspectacular pictures. These people offer the service to turn your
old-fashioned `bulky long haired coat' into a shearling. Shiver. A
lot of furriers do `recycling' on the side, but this one is a specialist.
Also on this address. (Previously also listed as `Home off' on

site, in Montréal Canada. If you actually want to see some of
their furs, don't bother to go here. 2&R
- Lafrance Furs
& Fashions. Canada, Sudbury (Ontario). One
page site with pictures. New entry December 7 (May 5) 2000.
- Jean Laurant. In
spite of the name a Chinese site, with a dozen of pictules. What can you
say? New entry May 29 2001. (MyFurLady)
- Lazare Furs. A well-designed site, and if
you desperately want to use Flash, Java or some other high tech stuff, you
might as well do it like this. I mean - it's as good as functional
here: the picture resize according to the size of your browser window. (IE
users: press <F11> before you make a screendump!) Lovely furs too,
lovely pictures, I'm sure nobody would mind to see some more of this. And
the Feraud parka is, well, if I may say so, infinitely cute. New May 18
- Lea Furs. On arrival you might be forgiven to think
this is a fake fur accessories site, but scroll through the lists carefully
and you'll cheer up. Very efficient no-gadget no-nonsense design. New entry
February 29 (January 21) 2000 (Lynx).
Furs, USA. Design identical
to Dayfurs, but much smaller collection. Coats look familiar too. New entry
November 15 2000. (mgjp)
- Wm. Lech &
Sons. One page, one
picture - nothing more than an online ad.
- Leon's Quality Furs,
formerly Leon's Furs Hats
and Accessories. Still mainly hats and caps though. Also a galleries of
celebrities and furs, mostly from other places on the WWW. New entry November 11
1999, (Elli), update posted April 6 2001.
- Furs by Leonard, Canada, Toronto. Updated and
really worth a look for design and product. Product catalogues also
downloadable in Acrobat Reader format. Unfortunately their Feraud Collection
is still not there, but have a look at Zuki and Nafa. New entry July
5 1999, update posted June 22 (20) 2000.
- Libonati. Best thing here: a preview for the classy
2001 collection. (Click bottom left on each picture to see more.) New June
21 (April 3) 2000. (Lynx SSFF)
- Pellicceria Lido. A nice picture page here, adequate design,
although the pictures are too small. New September 5 1998. It pays to click
at a lot of places: not just pellicceria, but e.g. also `Tessuto'. Updated October 15 1998.
- Martin Liska Furs. A big furrier
with some jealousy inducing shopwindows in the heart of Vienna.
The creations are shown in a kind of Flash(-like)
animation, but although I think the very interesting creations of Liska
deserve bigger pictures, at least you can now watch them for as lang as you
want. New entry September 7 1998, update posted
August 24 (December 14 2000).
- Von Lüdd, Italy.
`Trims only, but beautiful models' (Elli). Says it all, really. New entry
April 6 2001 (November 9 2000). (Elli)
- Pellicce Lunari, Rome, Italy. A functional site
with a handful of enjoyable pictures which give some impression of the style
and wares of Lunari. New entry October 20 (June 2) 1999.
- LVS. A Moscow furrier front door site in an
online directory. Two small pictures of the shop. New entry January 4 2000
(before December 11 1999).
- Pellicceria M.G., Italy Rome. I'm not
too excited about the design here, but it does the job and I'm sure all
visitors will enjoy the pictures of the collection and the fashion defilé.
And well, that MIDI of `You never walk alone, I never thought of fur coats
when hearing that one but it seems strangely appropriate, so why not. New
entry June 21 (May 1) 2000. (Lynx SSFF)
- Madefur's Pellicceria Maria
Modena. A nicely designed welcome page, with four wonderful pictures ... and
there it stops basically. New entry September 11 2001 (June 4 1999). (smept)
- Magnus Furs of Boston.
A site which is nice in itself, but the pictures of
the collection come from elsewhere on the WWW, which isn't very confidence
inspiring. New April 6 2001. (Elli)
- Mallery Furs. Two page site for a fur
maintenance shop in Atlanta. A few small pictures.
- Manenq. France, Paris. A few small pictures on an
elegantly designed site. New entry March 20 (January 20) 2000. (Lynx SSFF)

A single page in a directory, but some nice pictures of fur
and bridal gowns. New entry March 20 2000 (July 20 1999). (Lynx
SSFF), updated December 2 (June 16) 2000.
- Mar Franc Pelletería. Apparently the fur department of a
Catalonian leather and fur chain in Platja d'Aro (in Castilian known as Plaja
d'Aro I believe, not one of my favourite places). One picture and not much
else, apart from a stamp-sized one here. Moved from the
'Various' section, October 9 1998.
- Pellicceria Marcantoni. Front door page on
an Italian fur directory. One picture. New entry May 5 1999.

- Margaroli. More or less a
front door page, one picture. New entry September 26 1998.

Denmark. A simple but effective site - nothing wrong but the thumbnail-sized
pictures. Price quotes. New entry November 9 (June 2) 1999 (Lynx / NTC).
- Maryfur. Italy, Vigevano (PV). A two picture
front door site. New entry March 21 2000 (October 14
1999). (Lynx SSFF)
- Alexiou Mastorekas. A chain of fur shops in Greece and Russia.
New entry November 15 1999 (Lynx NTC).

SSFF), update posted August 23 (April 16) 2001 (STA)
- Pellicceria MC, Switzerland, Lugano. A logo, an
address and a historical and modern gallery (which is a great idea!) - this
is one site which is to the point. New March 20 (January 21) 2000. (Lynx
- McComber. One picture, of a shearling coat. Basically
just a simple ad put in HTML.
- Clara Meloni, Italy,
Fano. A single page with several smallish but nice pictures. New December 2
(April 18 1999).
- Mendel Fine Furs. Just an address and a small picture (Yes
it's a mannequin, so ...?), so not really what you'd call a `page'.
- Mersmann, Germany Münster. A rather plain page, but
a few nice pictures. New entry March 2000 (June 21 1999). (Elli / Lynx SSFF)
- Mido International, Ukraine, Kiev. Very large firm working with
Italian-trained staff, fur garment producer and wholesaler but they have a
boutique. Great collection of furs, and large, but quickly loading pictures
(yes, it can be done!) that allow you to have a reasonably close look at the
goods. Lovely. Don't miss the 'Next' link at the bottom of the page, there are
several pages! New entry September 11 (July 24) 2001. (Elli)
- Millennium Fur Collection, USA. Collection of
American designer furs, from a rather restrained Bob Mackie to Zandra
Rhodes. Worth a look. New entry March 18 2000 (Lynx).
- Mill Valley, USA,
Jackson Hole (Wyoming). Furs, shearling, leather. A large site of nice,
practical furs; you could do worse than have a look here. New entry November
17 2000. (zaza)
- Mod' Fourrure, France,
Grenoble. Slow link (possibly by non-standard use of html), some pictures,
lots of French text. Use HTML the way it's supposed to, guys, or you're
shooting yourself in the foot. New entry August 14 (April 1) 2000 (Chris
Morosini, Italy, Casalpustro (LO). A handful of
pictures of their mink- and leather-oriented collection. New entry August 21
(February 27) 2001. (Bluefox)
- Mr. Fred Furs. Older, black and
white pictures. A site with an enthusiastic and personal feel to it. Updated
May 5 1999.
- M.T. Beauty.
Knit furs. A small site with a few pictures of their collection. New entry
January 26 2002 (July 29 2001). (HackJack)
- Carlo Mura Rappresentanze, Rome, Italy. An
interesting catalogue of their wares on Moditalia online, with some
beautiful pictures. New entry September 9 1999 (July 4 1997). A former Lynx
- Nadel Furs.
Canada, Hamilton (Ontario.) For Nadel, a coat is a
coat, and it keeps you warm from your chin right down to your shoes. Some
floor-length coats that make you long for some serious Winter and a large
gallery here. New entry December 12 2000. (L. Glove)
- Nancy N. Small page with some basic information
- Naomi Furs,
Greece, Kastoria. The Naomi people are probably going to
hate me for what I say, but this is one for the Big Book of 2002's Classic
Web Mistakes. A contraproductive and ineffective Flash animation, a
nerve-wrecking music sample (the volume slider would be a very good idea if it
didn't jump back to the default volume at every new page) and videos that
might be visible or not, depending on the time of day's net congestion
(consider downloadable ones with an added logo and web address, they might
actually do something for the site). After all the time and clicking it
takes to get at the gallery - if you haven't closed your browser window before
that time - you'd probably overlook that the furs could be quite
interesting. New entry February 1 (January 30) 2002 (smept)
- New York Furs Etc. USA, Clearwater (Florida!).
Quality leaves you wanting more quantity. Not that I'd say this site is to
small, by the way. Best blue foxes I've seen for some time, at least on a
picture. New March 20 (February 28) 2000. (Elli SSFF)
- Northern Apparel. Fur from the north, handled by
people from the north. The text makes you want to see more than the two
pictures that are actually there.
- Northern Lights, aka
Furshopetc? Basically a nice design, but not the kind you'd expect to
display dead links and missing pictures. For what I can see, little content.
Slow server? New April 6 2001 (MyFurLady)
- Northwest International Furs. One of the oldest, and most
venerable, fur sites on the web. Update posted January 15 2000 or earlier,
new coats added in very small pictures (if only if they'd rescan those
pictures - I would even gladly do it for them ...).
- Novotny Furs. Site by a Russian
furrier in Ohio. Beautiful pictures of beautiful coats. Other than at some
sites I could mention, also some pictures of the shop that are a bit larger
than stamp-size. New entry April 25 1998, update posted April 7 2001
(December 20 2000).
- Old Orient. A furrier and
jeweler shop in Athens, Greece. Front door site, and don't expect many
updates here (before it surfaced in the search engine, it hadn't been
updated for almost a year). New entry July 15 (January 6) 1999.
- Overland Sheepskin Co. Mostly sheepskin, but some nice
fur coats too. Update posted February 18 (January 14) 2000.
- P & T Furs. Page on Modaonline
- their last contribution is the '97 collection, so could do with some
updating. New entry August 25 1999.
- Giorgios Pappas, New Jersey, USA. A front door site
with a few pictures from the Stone Age of GIF-imaging. Fur care. New May 7
1999. Update and new address posted February 8 2000 (October 18 1999).
- Pappas Furs, Canada. Another
Pappas Furs, and definitely another site. A very classy gallery with no less
than three lynxes and some sable too. Design ditto, although you might have
some trouble to find the gallery. New February 29 (18) 2000 (Lynx).
- Paris Furs, Canada,
Edmonton. New address, fresh new design. The invitation to 'have a browse
and enjoy' sounds rather like presenting a nearly empty box of cigars, as
there are only four or five very small pages. For picture collectors: you
have to make a screen dump and save that, or you'll end up with some very odd
bits and pieces. New entry March 18 2000 (Lynx SSFF). Update posted November
15 (October 19) 2000.
- Riccardo Parese. Inspite of the dotcom
and the Italian name, this is a German furrier, and the size of their
showroom makes it look very enticing. A dozen of pictures of their
collection (apparently mink and other brown fur oriented). New entry
December 9 (May 8) 1999 (Fur Marvin / NTC).
Van Meulebeke, Belgium. Three Winter collections
of fur and a Spring collection. Slick site design, nice, commonsensical
collection. New entry April 7 2001 (August 11 2000).
Fotini, Greece, Kastoria. Front door page on Kastoria Net Furs,
several small pictures. I don't think
these people do retail, but they're not clear about it.
You've got to bring your own pelts at any rate. New entry October 27
(4) 2000 (Elli/SSFF) , update
posted January 21 2002 (May 24 2001).
- Paustian Pelze, Kiel. A German site, still `under
construction-ish': two pictures of fur wearing mannequins (nothing wrong
with that) and two missing pictures links, and a look at their shop interior
(nothing wrong with that either). New entry 27 March 1999, update posted
February 8 2000 (October 4 1999).
- Il Pavone. In spite of the Italian name, a
Greek site. Some nice coats and nice pictures here, if you go through the
pages. New entry January 26 2000 (November 17 1999).
- Peking Fur Factory. Fur and lots of
leather in fact. Also known as the Giorgio Collection. Russian, English and
(partly) Chinese. New entry July 15 1999.
su pelle, Barletta (BA), Italy. A one page front door
site, one picture. New July 26 1998, update posted September 9 (July 5)
Belgium. The first online furrier in Belgium and in the fur-starved Low
Countries in general. Dutch language. Clear, functional design.
The update has turned this into a very pleasant site with clear, stylish
(think Grosvenor) pictures showing modern furs. New entry 12 October 2000.
(Serge), update posted January 21 (18) 2002.
- Peninsula Furs, Sterling, Alaska
(?), USA. Several pages with pictures that give you an idea of Peninsula's
stock. It has a DIY feel about it, but I like it. Real people here, no web
agents or virtual personae, what a relief ... A minus: body text done as
graphic. (Sight or hearing impaired people are likely to buy fur too, I
guess, but this locks them out.) Update posted September 9 (July 17), 1999,
- Pellicceria Pizetti Luigi Giulio. Front door site on
a fur directory, but one picture. New entry May 5 1999 (November 1 1998).
Henry Phillip, Norway. A front door site, with one stylish
picture. New entry December 9 (October 12) 1999 (Lynx NTC).
- Pelliceria Piccinini, Italy,
Pontecurone. Some work on the design needed, and a handful of vague,
smallish pictures of mostly big fluffy coats. A missed opportunity. New June
27 2000 (December 8 1999). (Lynx SSFF)
- P.K.Z. Furs, from Castoria, Greece. PKZ has a new
address which is much more interesting than the still existing older one
on Kastoria.net - have a look at the collection. New entry November 15 (10)
1999, update posted June 22 (February 23) 2000. The '98-'99 collection?
Anyway, have a look ...
- Pelzhaus Plappert. A furrier from
Mannheim and Hockenheim, Germany. A handful of appetizing pictures (under
'Trends' and 'Unsere Mode') Worth a look. New entry January 31 2000
(December 1 1999). (Michael)
- Powder River Traders. A site from
Wyoming, with a matching style. The coats look good (go for 'Goods') but
have matching price. New entry February 4 2000 (December 20 1999) (Chris /
- Prime Furs, USA
(meanwhile, somewhere in North Michigan ...). A collection
ranging from coats and accesories to blankets and fur 'dreamcatchers'
(possibly the unlikely kind of New Age thing that will never catch on in
California). New entry November 30 (14) 2000. (DP)
- Quality Furs.
Honest, you're going to love this one.
A site with all sorts of everything. You got to like their
collections of fur though; and they keep the old ones online.
You give your Email to have a good look at the latest
collection, but that's free, and fair enough if they also send you the
catalogue. (Not sure if they do.) Minor minus: they have background music;
even annoying when you don't have your own music playing already. New entry October 1 (September 17) 1999, update posted
January 23 2002 (December 31 2001).
(Elli) 'For the arty types' Elli says.
Pellicce, Italy. Design
in the Italian tradition, but unfortunately much of the site has been done
in Flash, so bring your microscope. If you come
for the pictures, they're stylish, romantic and also available in (just as
small, but more focused) jpegs. It's fun, but it could have been so much
better. New November 30 (October 24) 2000, update
posted January 26 2002 (September 14 2001).
Hey, I know this is not just a furrier, but I have to put it somewhere. Lots
of ideas, ambition, errors - and some nice pictures here; while the site
seems full of errors, it's also full of overcoming them. The product range
consists of blankets so far - nothing wrong with that, of course. One look
at the furrier listings won't just show that they're outdated (nothing new
here for regular readers of the Red Book), but also breathtakingly
inaccurate. I mean, getting an address wrong can happen to all of us, but
confusing entire countries ... But I wish the Red Book all the
best. New entry January 26 2002.
Memmingen. A basic site with a few small pictures - you get a rather tame
impression of the collection, is it that's summer or are they into
low-profile furs? New entry August 26 (June 12) 2001. (Jaco)
- Reiss Fashions. Fashion company, slick looking site but
with animation plug-ins. In spite of this just one interesting picture. New
entry March 21 2000 (December 22 1999). (Lynx SSFF)
- Au Renard bleu. French furrier, French only site; some
interesting pictures with nice content. New
October 26 1999, update posted January 18 2001 (October 14 2000) (sta SSFF,
- Revillon Co. (2) Two pictures and little else in a
fashion directory. We are still waiting for the definitive, giant humongous
killer site for the fur brand that started it all (not counting Paleolithic
cavemen). New March 20 2000 (August 18 1998). (Lynx SSFF)
- Richmond Hill furs. A page in a
Toronto shop directory, uninteresting unless you live in Toronto. New entry
May 4 1998.
- Rieger Pelze,
Wonderful pictures and modern design. A real appetizer for this business; if
only you could see all their pictures properly!
New entry November 15 (September 23) 1999. (Lynx NTC), update posted October
27 (September 19) 2000. At least as good as the previous edition and so recognizable
I knew there was an update when I saw one of their (unnamed!) pictures.
- Rika's, USA, Big Delta State Historical
Park (Alaska). Still for a large part under construction. The part of the
stock that's online can be ordered, and there are some furs for men. New
entry March 18 2000. (Lynx SSFF)
Rindi, Italy. A handful of interesting catwalk
pictures from the '96 collection, but apart from that not much else. New
entry September 9 1999 (August 26 1997). A former Lynx link.
Del Rio. A front door page,
but at least you get an idea of what their shop and the goods look like. New
entry October 9 1998.
under construction. I'm not sure if the falling leaves are a good idea, as
there has been some trouble caused by them reported. New entry October 12
(September 29) 2000. (Elli)
- Furs by Robert. Presumably not the
same as Roberts Furs (see below), although both sides are a bit vague about
their RL address. Furs by Robert sells online, and (nice) pictures and price
quotes of some of their coats are given on this carefully designed site. New
entry October 20 (8) 1999, update posted November 30 (August 30) 2000.
- Roberts Furs. Slow site, some pictures, and
text-as-graphics (bad idea). If this is a San
Francisco firm (it's amazing what people forget to tell on their websites)
and correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm informed the firm has closed down, but
so far the - very small - website is still available. (New November 25 1997.)
- Romagna Furs come
from San Marino, in case you wondered about the top domain ".sm".
A small site with professional design and stylish pictures. Definitely one
of mink lovers. New entry November 30 (June 21) 2000 (sta_uk)
- Rosenberg-Lehnhart. Not much to see, not much to read, even if
it's in two languages (German and English) with differing content (you'll
find the list of trade fairs on the German side rather more useful). New
entry November 9 (2) 1999 (FML), update posted December 9 1999 (some
- Georges Roy, Canada, Vieux-Lévis.
Intriguing little gallery. New June 27 (March 27) 2000. (Chris SSFF)
- Rucon by Anna Pucci. Mostly leather and shearling, but some nice
furry trims too. Slick design. At first I was alarmed by their announcement that they had a
woman skin collection, but the women are suppose to wear them, not grow
them. (Of course, the PETA suggestion of a farm of fur-bearing women would
be utterly repulsive and politically incorrect, and you haven't heard that
one here, right?) New entry November 9
(August 4) 1999, update posted May 29 2001 (November 24 2000). (Serge)
- Russian Fur, Moscow. A Russian furrier. Nice
design. (New April 24 1998.)
- Sakis, Sweden. A dozen of nice but not
too big pictures with an exact description of the kind of fur. Most info in
Swedish. New entry May 12 (February 26) 1998.
- Samantha, Germany. The best and - to use that
dreadful word for just this once - sexiest gallery of Mongolian lamb
of any online furrier. And the return
of the muff, in the chinchilla and fox galleries, all in great colours; the
latter gallery would make my day all by itself. Have a look at the 'Stoff'
section too, more fur collars and muffs here. New
entry March 18 (February 19) 2000 (Lynx SSFF), update posted January 18 2001
(April 3 2000), a breathtaking
video. (Breathtaking if you have sufficient bandwidth. How about downloadable
- Santagostino Modelli. Italy, Milan. Under construction, but
should that be an excuse for a terrible colour scheme, haphazard graphics
and total absence of design? The catalog consist of 50s style fashion
drawings - interesting perhaps if you've been to fashion academy, but
they're not very alluring to the average customer. Italians can do better -
Forza Santagostino! New entry March 21 (5) 2000. (Lynx SSFF)
- De Santis. An Italian site,
some nice furs, great design. New entry May 14 1998, update posted May 29 (April
22) 2001. (Serge)
- Scaglini. Leather and furs, three pictures and a bit
of text, but hey, it's bilingual! (English, Italian.) New entry August 29
- Von Schachtmeyer, Bad
Oldesloe, Germany. A small site with a
number of stylish pictures. The furs is restricted to trims and linings
mostly. Update posted April 6 2001 (December 20 2000).
- Schrader Mode fur and leather. The fur pictures -
nice ones - are under 'produkte'; mouton and lamb lovers go to 'Pelzvelours'.
If you understand German, they have a nice "Presse" section. New
entry September 11 1998, update posted May 29 (April 21) 2001.
- Pelzatelier Schulz, Wiesbaden. A front
door site. New entry March 27 1999.
- Scially Furs. A few small pictures, front end
- Luisia Semenzato, Venice, Italy. A
front door site if I ever saw one: a handful of pictures of their shop
windows, including their, er, front door. Gives you a nice idea of their
shop, and one more reason to visit the Serenissima. New entry September 16
Ltd (1) A Korean page that shows that can't
really make a bad picture of a wonderful coat, and it tells you what
particular kind of coat it is too. Small but nice. New entry October 9 1998
- Seolim Ltd (2) Small
page, from the same firm as the above. New entry May 29 2001 (STA)
- Severyn Fur Salon (1). A typical `one
page page' address, a few small pictures, and trying to lure is with their
'All New 1998 Collection!' Yeah, right. Not to be confused with `Sevarin' of
- Severyn Fur
Salon (2). Small
site with large, attractive pictures of the merchandise. Oddly, to make sure
you can read their labels, they turned the pictures 90 degrees clockwise. New entry February
29 (14) 2000 (Lynx), update posted May 29 (April 24) 2001 (furiend).
- Sheepskin by Susan
Bradford. The best here is a Tibetan lamb coat, but
many coats have so little hair on them you'd suspect sheep to be some kind
of reptile. Apart from that there is nothing wrong with the design here. New
entry May 5 1999.
- Leder und
A furrier in Bebra, Germany. Also leather. Apart from the
picture on the welcome page a text-only website, but I guess a lot of work
went in creating the menu. New entry January 31 2000 (December 5 1999),
update December 21 1999. (Michael)
- Sikora, Germany, Bonn. A collection which could be interesting
to a younger clientele, and I think the reversible skirt is a nice idea. New
entry August 24 2001. (Jaco)
- Silverfox, Empoli (FI). An
Italian furrier - just furry collars and cuffs here, in anything but
silverfox. Let's hope this is just their summer collection. New entry June
14 1998 (December 30, 1996).
- Sinclair. An Italian shop,
(`furrier' would be too much here), mostly leather but some furry bits and
sheepskin. New entry August 13 1998, updated August 24 1999.
- Skrivanou Furs. Great
site, sometimes hard to access. Nice pictures, nice furs. New entry May 29
(February 5), 2001. (SMEPT)
- Otmar Sldaky,
Austria, Perchtolsdorf. One page site, two pictures. New March 18 2000 (Lynx)
- Sooin Trading Co. A Korean furrier, front door page
with two pictures. New entry July 16 1999.
- Sorce - Ponte Vecchio. Italy, Empoli (FI). A gallery with
fur-collar and -cuff coats. Nice design. New entry March 20 2000 (June 18
1999). (Lynx SSFF)
- Pelz-Atelier Spangenberg, Germany,
Frankfurt am Main. One large page, but several, nice stylish pictures show
the ideas of this furrier in the capital of European big bucks and that
terrible Sorry-Fur-Pros-Only-Event. New entry March 18 2000 (1999). (Lynx)
- Pellicceria Stanga, Italy, Cremona. Small galleria with
a handful of pictures, black and white. New entry March 18 2000 (1999).
- State Fur Salon.
selling online via www.furshopping.com (q.v.). You'll possibly know that
collection, beautiful as it is, and apparently the State Fur Salon wants to
hide its very nice own collection; when I tried to enter it , I got an error
message, so you'll have to fill in the pictures addresses manually. Add
"/Furs/01.jpg", "/Furs/02.jpg" etc. to the State Fur
Salon site address. New entry March 14 1999, update posted December
12 (3) 2000. (SMEPT).
- Staten Island
Furrier. This is a page on a web directory, but some
(not all) of the pictures are so nice it almost looks like a normal site.
New entry May 7 1999.
- Stroudsburg Fur
and Leather. Skins
and coats. A series of very vague, grainy pictures in The Fur Traders
Collection - the kind that takes just as much bandwidth as the good ones of
the same size. Even so the coats look interesting, especially if you're
interested in the macho/trapper type of fur. New entry July 15 1999, update
posted January 31 2000 (October 11 1999).
- Sugimoto Leopard
A rare link to a rare fur. As much as I admire the beauty of this fur, I
have some mixed emotions about it. It may be that this shop is allowed to
sell leopard fur (in the same way that the Japanese and the Norwegians
`allow' themselves to wipe out whales?), but don't you dream of taking it
through US or European Customs. Dead animals are protected too. New entry
November 15 1999 (May 19 1998) (Lynx NTC).
Bayshore. Furrier and wholesale company in
an English speaking part of the world. Frontdoor page with a few small
pictures. New entry February 18 2000. (Lynx SSFF)
- Mano Swartz. Back from the
gloomy depths of our 'offline' page. A smallish site, but very smooth design
and a few pretty pictures. Nice drawings too. Back online and update posted
August 24 (July 20), 1999.
- Tianjin Able. A Chinese clothing company, which also sells
furs. There are three small but interesting pictures. New entry January 12
- Tiffany Furs. Some known
pictures from elsewhere and a few nice ones I did not know, and some useful
information: fur terminology, fur types, fur tips. New entry May 7 1999.
- Pelzmoden Tenten,
Krefeld. A front
door site but with a nice picture ... follow that car! New entry March 27
site might be a demo/dummy site, as it is on one domain with the Wüstenberg
- Ben Thylan Furs. USA, New York. 24th
floor ... talk about a furrier with a high treshold! There's nothing really
wrong with this site, but to be transported to heavenly delights by this
furrier, we have to take his elevator, not his website: fashion sketches.
New entry March 20 (February 10) 2000. (Lynx SSFF)
- Fourrures Tollet. A site on the Paris
yellow pages, but well worth a look. New entry March 23 (January 6) 2000,
update posted December 2 (October 10) 2000.
- Pellicceria La Torre,
two pictures, one of which is only accessible through a tiny thumbnail at
the bottom of the page.
- Toschi Pellicce, Italy, Bastia di Rovolon. Sadly the largest
picture you'll see on this sight is the rather un-furry picture up front.
This furrier must be still in the camera-shy
I'm-a-furrier-but-I-really-don't-do-much-fur-you-know phase, that filled so
many salons with unassuming leather and lammy stuff. Design is o.k., but
hey, these are Italians. I love the throws, or the spread, or the blankets
... now, where is my magnifying glass? New entry March 18 2000. (Lynx)
- Transfurmation. `Creations from recycled fur'. That is:
FURnishing mostly, not a lover that is magically changed into a big fur
coat. And: you can buy fur and help fight breast cancer as well. There's
also an article about Transfurmation on furs.com.
New May 29,
1999. Update posted October 20 (1) 2000, `Gifts', a very small update.
- Tsevis Furs, Scarsdale, USA. Frontdoor page.
New entry November 11 1999.
- Tsoukas Brothers, Greece Kastoria. It took some time
before all the animated gifs were in place, but then the site was moving
like rush hour traffic. Small catalog and a panorama of the showroom, which
looks a little bit too low on stock to be the `Capital City of Fur in Europa'
but perhaps they're going to post some more, or they should make it fully
360 degrees. The catalog is still small (and mink- focused) but there is a
detailed account of the Tsoukas production process - it must look like
'Return of the Living Dead to the Nightmare of Friday 13th Street' to AR
activists but well, I thought it interesting. Thanks for the invitation to
Frankfurt 1999 by the way. If I'd only known ... New entry March 20 2000
(July 1 1999). (Lynx SSFF)
- Tu Piel, Argentina, Mar del Plata. This
page is in its early days and could do with some improvement - tighter
design and improved pictures, which look rather haphazard (if not taken from
elsewhere). New entry March 11 (10) 2000. (Elli)
- Pelzhaus Türpitz, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Page in
business directory, one picture. New entry November 15 1999 (Lynx NTC).
- Nicolaus Tzorias, Macedonia? If you
like very dark, bristly looking furs, this is definitely your place. If not,
keep wondering if a blindingly white fluffy fox woudn't fit in better with
the Grecian colour palet and skin tone. Perhaps they just do exports.
Design-wise, this site has some good ideas, but somehow it could do with a
firm hand here and there. This is the first furrier site I see with its own
message board, but it's not really taking off yet. New entry March 18 2000
- Uptodate Furs. Fur storage and cleaning in Poughkeepsie,
USA. Frontdoor page, no pictures. New entry November 11 (January 4) 1999.
- USA Fox and Furs. Currently a mix of old and new, mostly
thumbnail- sized pictures. Under (re)construction. Updated November 11 1999.
Austria, Vienna. `Promising', says Chris. I agree; if
they had handled all the pictures right, I had gladly given a !!!-marking. In this
state some pictures are not up to
scratch when it comes to online sales. All good things come to those who
wait? The furs deserve it. New entry December 2 2000.
Vana, Austria, Matzen. A small site with a few nice pictures.
New entry August 23 2001 (STA)
- Varnis Furs, Castoria, Greece. Front door site, one nice
picture. New entry November 15 1999 (Lynx NTC).
- Versatile Ajamian. Modern fur in youthful
site in matching style. New March 20
(14) 2000. (Lynx SSFF)
AB Vilkas, Lithuania. Page in a business directory, small pictures.
New entry September 11 2001 (April 18 2000).
Pellicca Shearling. Front door page with three pictures. New entry January
- Viscovic Furs, former Yugoslavia (?). I didn't know any link from this
region so far, but this is a very good start. No spectular design, but many
big, clear pictures, stressing the sensuous quality of fur. Now, if only
they'd tell us where we can find their shop ... New entry August 23 (February
2) 2001. (Hack__Jack)
& Ludmila, Russia, Moscow. A lot of effort goes in
the design of their furs, but they have a shop and a showroom. The site is
large, with pictures and nice, unorthodox furs popping up everywhere, so have
a thorough browse if you didn't do that already. And it's all bilingual too!
Minus: The pictures are put in on the page in two halves (save one and you'll
understand what I mean). Still, it might be the best Russian furrier site.
New entry August 26 2001. (Elli)
& O Furs, (USA ?). Small
but nice - lovely coats. New entry October 20 (15) 2000. (Elli / SSFF)
- Vogue Furriers. Furrier on Newfoundland. Two pages
with pictures of the shop interior and the collection. New May/June 1997.
Furs by Mark, USA, Fairlawn. Liquidation sale, so
hurry, if you're intrested. Some nice furs. New entry August 23 2001. (Chris)
Louis Vuitton Dealer. Vintage Furs, from Louis Vuitton
and others. Two caveats: old furs aren't up to heavy duty, and some of the
wares can't be imported in countries outside the USA. New entry January 26
- Bruno Voss & Co., Hamburg,
Germany. Nice furs, smallish pictures and large site. New entry May 29 (16)
- Wagner, Neustadt. A German
front door site, a few small pictures. New entry March 27 1999, update
posted January 31 2000 (June 1 1999) but just leather jackets.
- Wainer Pellicce, Italy, Saccalongo (PD). This site
is still largely a `work in progress' but have a look anyway. The pictures
are too small, but could be awe-inspiring if their number, sharpness and
size were trebled. (Hint for the Wainer people, if they're reading this).
New entry March 18 2000. (Lynx)
Vienna, Austria. One page site in a online business directory. Nice picture.
New August 30 1999.
- Westmall. I include this one
with some hesitation, form this is an online `mall' with two shops that sell
sheepskin, lammy and sheerling coats. If you're not too critical you might
find some furry trims here. Of course, if you happen to like
sheerlings or lammy it's different. New entry May 5 1999.
- Western Canadian
Chinchilla. I don't know if this is a shop or if these
people are just very enthusiastic about chinchilla. The pictures
are like chinchillas themselves: small but nice to look at. Back on new
address May 4 1998.
Whistler Spirit Designs, Canada, Vancouver. Nice
prices, nice furs in various styles, and a joy to look at. Also sells through Ebay
New entry August 24 2001, update posted January 25 (17) 2002.
- William Furs, Nevada, USA. Some nice pictures
here, a friendly site by friendly people. :-) New entry November 9 (October
23) 1999 (Lynx / NTC), update posted November (October 25) 2000 (smept),
one new picture under `Products'; more, more!
- Jerome Wolk jr. Furs, Pittsburgh, USA. A front door site, or web
ad. One picture, but nice. New entry October 13 1999.
- Pelzmoden Wüstenberg, a front door site
with one picture, or so it seems ... See below. New entry March 27 1999.
The German text at the bottom end of the page says: "This is not an ad.
No Company Logos or trademarks were used. The picture is just for
demonstration purposes only." (Dies ist keine Werbung. Firmen- und Markenzeichen wurden
nicht verwendet. Das Bild dient lediglich zu Demonstrationszwecken.)
But how about Pelzmoden Tenten? And Bisegger? Three furriers in one street in poor
little Krefeld does seem a bit much, but are they all phoney? Somebody near
Krefeld, or with access to the Krefeld telephone directory, help me out
- York Furrier.
Since it started as a front door site with
a few nice pictures, this page has been seriously updated.
Modern design, and attractive
pictures, in online catalogue New entry May 7 1999. Update
posted January 22 2002 (November
11 2001). (Jes)
Louisville (KY). A site that gives a small sample of the stock - mink,
beaver, shearling and a sable. New entry October 27 2000 (December 6 1999).
- Zaffalon Pellicceria, Italy, Venice. Italy, Venice. A
front door page, with one 'prodotti' page. The tacky background MIDI music
is a major design mistake: by the time it restarts for the fourth time
you're well inclined to reach for a spray can or an axe. New entry June 30 (26)
1998, update posted November 17 (June 22) 2000.
Vienna. A furrier on with a nice collection of coats, shown on the show in
their own shop on the very Graben itself. New entry December 12 (October 2)
- Pels und
Leder Albert Zirn,
Switzerland. Updating of furs coats, storage. Two pictures, some none too
spectacular drawings. New entry November 15 1999 (Lynx NTC), update posted
December 2 (October 27 2000), but nothing much to see.
Italy, Magione. A handful of pictures; the design work has gone to the furs,
not much to the site, but it's efficient nevertheless. New entry August 14
(June 13) 2000 (Lynx SSFF), update posted January 26 (7)
= (Also) Sells used furs.
