- Michael Bornett. An Austrian fashion designer, who used to
have a site on the Graz University web (now offline). An animated (small)
picture show, so show some patience. New entry March 27 1999.
- PelzDesign Bosch. Designs in
mink and sable. Small site, small pictures. Hang around at their welcome
page to be redirected or if your browser doesn't support that, go directly.
New entry February 29 2000 (December 6 1999) (Lynx).
- Dainese Furs. Wonderful collections of modern ('Young')
and more traditional furs. I don't know if there any persons about who see
Paradise as a garden filled wonderful women in fur, well, this might give
you an idea. "Wear a dream" says Dainese - that's the idea. New
February 29 (16) 2000. (Lynx)
- Angelo Danzi. Not many, but extremely classy pictures.
Enjoy. New entry October 1 (March 11) 1999 (Lynx NTC), update March 30 (3)
2000. (Lynx SSFF)
- Escada. My favourite smell
(Pour Homme, that is; how did they know I was a Cognac person?!), but if
there is one of their shop in your neighbourhood, it's always worth a look
in wintertime. Picture are nice, but a bit small, and I hope non-Java
browsers can see them as well. And, you have to be systematic, or you'll
miss things. New entry November 9 (July 3) 1999. (Lynx / NTC)
- Matthias
Geignetter Mode + Pelz
Design. Front
door page, one picture. New entry May 29 2001 (October 6 1199).
- Couture Helène. A Belgian fashion designer. Bilingual site
in Dutch and in French. A few fur and lamb photos. New entry September 1,
1998.
- Fendi. The Fendi collection is designed
by Karl Lagerfeld. Relatively little fur, lots of experiments. Updated
August 25, with extensive coverage of the 1999-2000 collection (don't forget
the link to the next page, below). New address September 10 1999.
- Fur Design Concepts. A no-frills site of a fur designer
company, but with a name like that, you'd expect a little bit more of design
perhaps. New entry October 13, 1998.
- Gianfranco
Ferré. A number of pictures with his creations,
but little or no fur. New address posted September 1999.
- Gianfranco
Ferré. This is where the
fur is, five good pictures. New (and updated?) entry Oktober 1 1998.
- Eric Gaskins. Slow and some rough edges here and there, but
nice, stylish pictures, as you might expect. New entry May 5 1999.
- J.P.
Gaultier. Main
inspiration for the navigation of this site must have been the Monty
Python's Complete Waste of Time CDROM, or I'm a confused cat. Enter at
your own peril and don't expect to see much of JPG's work. (Alas!) There
were some parts that I liked though - nearly interactive tellyvishun.
Perhaps I'm a bit confused after all. New November 30 (August 8 2000).
- Betsey Johnson. Some pictures from
her Viking look, with little bits of fur trim her and there. More pictures
of her designs are on the Firstview site. New entry May
4 1999.
- Andrea Lavagno. An Italian designer, from Turin. Some
pictures of his work and shows. No mistakes, but not really impressive
either. New entry September 9 (April 8 1997) 1999.
- Paula Lishman. No
introduction needed for the designer and inventor of 'Knit fur'. There has
gone some serious hard work into this site, and it shows. Some items offered
online, and they won't cost you an arm and a leg, especially considering
it's fur and designer fashion. New entry November 15 (1) 2000. (Aaron
Lishman). If totally in the grip of Lishmania, also visit Touch of Fur (see
below).
- Gai
Mattiolo on Moda Online. Italy. If you like large
collars, go for the 1999 Fall Winter collection. New December 7 2000.
- J. Mendel for Legend, USA.
Flash 5 only, but such some very nice pictures with the best quality of
mink. Read also the article on furs.com (`J.
Mendel for Legend: Great Mink is back'); if you're not compatible with
Flash 5, go to furs.com too: The pictures are there too, albeit smaller. New entry August 14 2000 (December 11
1999) (Fursurfer NTC), update posted (October 6) 2000.
- Veronica Miljkovitch. No introduction needed, and there is an
article about her at Fur Age online too,
Pushing the Envelope. Not a
very big site, but it's pleasant and it's one that several other designers
(and I mean both fur and web designers) could learn a thing or two. Update posted
February 10 2002 (October 13
(2001). (HackJack) Site wide
update.
- Nija Furs. We all love
Nija, but I'm not 100 percent sure we will all like the website. There is a
fancy plug-in (Flash) required for entry, but it doesn't do anything
substantial you couldn't achieve with plain HTML (o.k., for these floating
words I'd have to take up my screen and rock it about. Wow, floating words
... ); the pictures look awfully small and dull, or, to put it in another
way, totally UN-Nija. So, the message is killed by the media.
The site is still under construction, so there is some hope left all this
serious un-coolness will be redressed if we keep our fingers crossed. New
entry February 29 2000 (Lynx).
- Christina Perrin.
A designer who recently got some attention in Fur Age,
and, no surprises, puts some fur in her creations. There is an overview of
her collections, and it's large, but unfortunately the same can't be said
for the size of the pictures. The good news is that you can see the Fall
2000 collection for free on Firstview.
New November 30 2000. (pjsofty)
- Prada.
The
people of the red fox fur sleeping bag. `Coming soon', but have a look at
the picture. New entry November 30 (July 28) 2000
- Michael Robinson. Designer who
openly admits he only uses shearling and cashmere these days. Oh well, I
wouldn't stand in the way of shearling lovers, and luckily the current
pictures stem from the '97 and '98 catalogue. New entry February 29 2000
(Lynx).
- Sonia Rykiel. Uses fur in
her collection and wears it herself too - I have a video'd interview with
her, and she is wearing one of her own fox fur collared coats in it. New
November 9 1999 (November 30 1998). (Lynx NTC)
- Erik Schaix.
A small
site with a few pictures of good looking designs. New entry October 2 (July
1) 2000. (Elli/SSFF)
- Ralf Schulte Design
Team a designer from Frankfurt. Nice,
screen wide pictures, doing some justice to the furs and the designs. There is also a much smaller front door site, (new March 27 1999, update posted
May 29 2001 [October 10 2000]) with one picture. New entry November 9
(October 12) 1999. (FML), update posted May 29 (7) 2001. (MyFurLady)
- Sorbara. If I have ever wanted to stand in someone
else's shoes, it would be the guy standing next to the red car. I guess I
identify with bearded blokes. But seriously: we all have seen some Sorbaras
spread over the fur part of the Web and in magazines, but here are at last a
number of them together. More, more, maestro! New entry February 4 2000
(Chris / SSFF).
- Lawrence
Steele. A large series of pictures of his
Fall/Winter 2000-2001 collection, on Moda Online. New November 30 2000 (zaza)
- Ter
et Bantine. Some fur at their 1999-2000 collection,
mostly of the kind you don't have to leave at the coathooks: trowser, dress,
skirt, sweater. Which is A Good Thing. New entry August 25 1999.
- Giuliana Teso. Small page on
Modaonline with the 1999-2000 collection, but fur-wise quite a relief if
you've just waded through the Fendi/Lagerfeld effort. New entry August 25
1999.
- Carlo Tivioli. The Tivioli page
on Modaonline - their latest addition is the '97 collection, but still a
pleasure to look at. New entry August 25 1999.
- A Touch
of Fur, Canada. A site regarding the fur yarn as
developed by Paula Lishman. New November 17 2000.
- Versace.
Just a
(nice) picture. This one's clearly on hold. New October 20 2000.
- Helen Yarmak
1, Russia. Helen Yarmak's very own official site.
Normally I'm not in favour of Flash shows and other gadgetry, but it's
really nice to see various shots of coat and girl combinations flying at
you. I believe Yarmak is a
designer, but she has a number of shops in both Russia and the USA. New
entry 20 October 2000 (Lynx), update posted December 7 2000: Yarmak's is one
of the sites who think it clever to `forget' the update date, but I'm pretty
sure they've added the photo galleries since it entered this list (October
20 2000). Go there if you haven't done so already, there's some superb
stuff!
- Helen Yarmak
2, Russia. Article about the Russian designer, with
badly-handled but still nice pictures. New entry October 20 (August 8) 2000.
- Helen Yarmak
3, Russia. An article on furs.com. New October 20 2000.
- YSL. Now
that he almost got it right, webwise, YSL stops. Why do I say 'almost'?
It's still those small pictures. Nothing really impresses if it's only 3 cm
high, not even a YSL-design. And I don't care for a wallpaper of YSL's dog,
not if the man could have given us so many genuinely pretty things to look at
for our desktop. I suppose it's the YSL equivalent of slamming the door behind
him. Still, the retrospective is interesting. New April 24, 1998, update
posted February 10 (January 21) 2002. The 1962-2002
retrospective.
- Zuki. Sable, beaver and chinchilla on
this site, with a concise explanation of the how and the why. New September
11 1998. Update posted June 7 1999.
